*** ANOTHER LETTER FROM THE DRRA PRESIDENT TOM D'EATH

TO: All 2003 Gold Cup Stakeholders
FROM: Tom D'Eath, President -- Detroit River Regatta Assoc.
SUBJECT: 2003 Chrysler Jeep Superstores APBA Gold Cup

We're down to the final planning for the Gold Cup and things are looking great. Here's an update on what's happened since my last letter:

* We had a volunteer meeting at the COBO Conference and Exhibition Center. We were pleased with the attendance - about 150 people showed up to offer their help. Most of the critical committees will be lead by their 2002 chair. I want to express my thanks to all of you who have jumped in with both feet to do what it takes to make the event a success.

* We've confirmed we'll be doing a three-day event beginning Friday, August 22. There will be no activities on Thursday. The program will include the Gold Cup race, a sweepstakes/free- for-all race for any racing hulls between 17 and 27 feet, jersey speed skiffs, vintage fly-bys, and extreme water sports exhibitions..

* We've obtained lists of prior ticket holders and have made a lot of phone calls letting people know about the race. We're trying to make sure everybody gets their same seats they had last year or better seats. We still have a lot of prime seats left if so if you or someone you know still needs tickets it's a good time to get on board. Buying tickets this year could improve your seating for future races. Call us at 586.774.APBA / 586.774.2722 to purchase your seats.

* The official race program has gone to print.

* We have 37 founders club members who have each donated $100 or more to help make the event a success. If you'd like to show your support, become a DRRA member. We still need more members to make our budget goals.

* New city regulations over park use have presented some serious parking challenges. City grass is off limits, so most of our prior parking areas are not available. We've organized remote parking at the Cassens Transport lot on the corner of Connor and Freud. Parking at that site will be $5 with a free shuttle service to the parks throughout the event.

* Parking at the Bill Muncey Lot will be available by advance purchase only at a rate of $50 for a three-day pass (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).

If you've already bought your tickets, become a member of DRRA or volunteered to help - thanks a lot. If you've been meaning to but just haven't gotten around to it - now is the time!

Best Regards,

Thomas D'Eath
President
