From Leslie Field's history site (http://www.lesliefield.com): "On November 1, 1957, Art set a World Speed Record of 184.54 mph driving Miss Supertest II for the Thompsons at Long Reach, Picton, Ontario. He was awarded the World Medal of Honor from the Union of International Motorboating from Ghent, Belgium. This was what you might call "getting his feet wet" because he went on to set two more World Speed records, three Canadian speed records, and one American speed record while driving for Aubert Brillant, Rimouski, Quebec in the period of 1962 to 1965. In 1964 Art was inducted into the American Marine Racing Hall of Fame."

*** FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT HEARD ABOUT A BENEFIT FOR MARK EVANS

There was some talk about a benefit for Mark Evans on November 7th at Sindbads, but this particular event has been canceled. Word got out when people heard Mark's medical bills were not completely covered, but it turns out that they are.

*** THANKS TO THE KEY DETROIT RIVER REGATTA ASSOC VOLUNTEERS

I want to mention everyone that worked so hard in the DRRA offices this year, organizing the event and the volunteer staff. You already know how big a part that Tom & Judy D'Eath were, but behind them were a number of extremely hard working volunteers in the offices who did SO, SO, MUCH! Kathy Shuler doing many tasks, Dick Delsener managing ticket arrangements, and Joe Schulte answering the phones day and night. Many people worked hard to make the 2003 event a success, these are the ones that were in the trenches.

The regular staff at the APBA offices also deserve special mention for their help.
