The Race in Doha Qatar Begins Today

Thursday November 20th is qualifying, with racing on Friday and Saturday. See the full schedule and coverage here:

The H1 Driver Championship is up for grabs at the final race of the H1 Unlimited season, the Oryx Cup UIM World Championship in Doha, Qatar. The 832 point lead held by Jimmy Shane in the 6 Oberto Beef Jerky over closest challenger J. Michael Kelly in the defending series and Oryx Cup champion 1 Graham Trucking would appear to be a comfortable margin.  But neither Shane nor Kelly is taking anything for granted.

Driver changes for this race:

- Jean Theoret returns to Unlimiteds driving the 96 Spirit of Qatar. Jean replaces Kip Brown who is recovering from a herniated disc in his neck.

- At Schumacher Racing, the boat name and number are both changing. The former 37 Miss Beacon Plumbing will compete as the 21 Miss Seattle with Dave Villwock driving.

- Centurion Racing announced that Jesse Robertson will replace veteran Greg Hopp in the 12 Miss DiJulio.  Robertson qualified as an unlimited driver in 2013 in Mark Evans' 57 Miss FEDCO and drove the boat to a fourth place finish in the Coeur d'Alene Diamond Cup.

Go Pro Produced a Video About Unlimited Racing

As you may know, Go Pro has been a HUGE supporter of H1 Unlimited, providing our Go Pro Hero3+ camera systems that have ridden along on our hydroplanes this season (and many past seasons), giving us some of the most spectacular footage anyone has ever seen!

Recently, Go Pro has taken their support to another level, releasing the first of what we hope will be many "commercials" to their web channel, exposing millions of their subscribers to our sport! Keep a lookout for more to come with what we supply from Doha as well... :- )

Dredging Up Hydroplane History

In this video, "The Boat Guy" (some of us know him as Chip Hanauer), goes in search of a boat part lost in Lake Washington decades ago. The goal was to recover the cowling from the Squire Shop hydroplane, to assist in it's restoration. Check it out!
